In the United States, football season never really ends. After the Superbowl, we have an off-season that the NFL has carefully structured to keep us all hooked just like Pookie in New Jack City. First comes free agency followed by 125 different mock drafts in anticipation of this week’s three day event in Chicago, the 2015 NFL Draft.
To help bring you up to speed and give you a chance to get to know your teams new potential first round pick we have compiled a short list of players that are almost guaranteed to be picked in the top ten come Thursday evening:
1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans, you will have a new quarterback at the end of this week and his name will probably be Jameis Winston. Winston led Florida State to a National Championship, won the Heisman Trophy, and even played college baseball but is also just as well known for definitely not stealing crab legs.
2. Oregon’s Marcus Mariota will be the new quarterback for either the Tennessee Titans, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, San Diego Chargers or the Philadelphia Eagles. The fun part will be seeing who selects the young QB or who trades for the rights to draft him at number two.
Besides winning the Heisman Trophy this year and being faster then RGIII at the combine probably the best thing about Mariota is his full name, Marcus Ardel Taulauniu Mariota. First Hawaiian to go number two?
3. Dante Fowler Jr. led the Florida Gators with 15 tackles for a loss, 17 quarterback hurries and 8.5 sacks. Fowler will most likely lead Jacksonville or Washington in sacks next season.
